Help Create Welcoming Events for Homeschool Families
The Illinois Homeschool Resource Center exists to strengthen homeschool families through connection, encouragement, and shared experiences. Our Community Team helps make that happen by supporting the events and activities that bring families together.
From Kids Club gatherings to workshops and special events, these volunteers help create an atmosphere where families feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged.
Many of these roles require just a few hours per month, and volunteers can often choose the events that fit their schedule.
Event Helpers
Event helpers assist with the practical needs that make events run smoothly.
Responsibilities may include:
• Setting up tables and supplies
• Greeting families as they arrive
• Helping keep activities organized
• Assisting with cleanup afterward
This is a great role for someone who enjoys being around people and helping create a welcoming environment.
Event Planning
Event Planning volunteers help organize and coordinate special events hosted by the Illinois Homeschool Resource Center. These events create opportunities for families to connect, learn, and build community.
Responsibilities may include:
• Helping brainstorm new event ideas
• Assisting with scheduling and logistics
• Coordinating supplies and materials
• Communicating with instructors or presenters
• Helping prepare event plans and timelines
Some volunteers help plan an entire event, while others may simply assist with one part of the planning process.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys organization, creativity, and working behind the scenes to bring events to life.
Time commitment varies depending on the event, and many planning tasks can be done from home and on a flexible schedule.
